Lemon yellow, amber yellow, golden yellow, royal yellow, maize yellow, topaz, lion yellow, mustard yellow, and the list goes on. As at the last count, there are more than 30 shades of yellow when it comes to fashionable outfits, and the shades, which usually hover around bright to pale can be quite tricky to work with.
In fact, because of the hue, stylists have labeled it the trickiest colour to work with. Interestingly, contrary to the notion that only fair people can successfully rock this colour, red carpets have shown that dark-complexioned people can conveniently join the yellowtrain, irrespective of how dark the skin is. However, there are some basic rules to follow when working withyellow:
Keep jewellery to moderation
Notice anything about the celebrity photographs on the page? Not one of the celebrities is wearing a necklace. That is the basic rule. Yellowis already a bold enough fashion statement and adding statement neckpieces would be overstretching the creativity distastefully. Keep it to one accessory and let the attention remain on the outfit. If you wish, let your earrings pop. No more!

Show off some skin
Yellowis a very nice colour to show off beautiful skin, and if you have this advantage, take full control of it. Resist the urge to reveal more than necessary though.
Don’t be afraid to pair with other colours
Yellowworks well with neutral colours such as black. It is also a good combination with green or even purple, However, when you want to combine colours, always keep things at a minimum, else you risk an overall clowning effect.
Natural makeup is your best bet
When you walk into a room in ayellow dress, whether you like it or not, you will catch attention. Pair that with an over-madeup face and you’re simply asking for looks that will do little to hide disgust. Natural makeup works beautifully with as many shades of yellow as possible. However, if you’re feeling the urge to do at least a little shade of bright, stick with mildly red lipstick.
