A social enterprise expert and the founder of The Association for Students’ Social Welfare in Nigeria, Mr Victor Adetolaju has urged wealthy people to give back to the school community.
He spoke during his appearance on the Medley Show on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA). The programme which was hosted by Tochi Oputa also featured Dr. Tony Rapu, Tunde Onakoya, and Funmi Omisope.
In the course of the one-hour programme, Adetolaju went down memory lane on how he founded a student social welfare scheme in 2017, years after he had graduated from Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.
According to him, the demise of his father when he was six years old led to more hardship for him while he was in school, by the time he graduated, he noticed the same pattern among the students in the school.
He thereafter resolved to better the life of the student by providing subsidized food at an affordable price to the student, he also informed the presenter how the scheme had liaise with artisans in order to teach some of the students some hand work.
He thereafter urged individuals and corporate bodies to be proactive to the task ahead as the governments across board continued to be overwhelmed with issues like this.
