Following the approval of the establishment of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital in Akure, the Ondo State capital, leaders of the Akure community have stated that it will significantly enhance the provision of effective healthcare services for the people of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.
The leaders, who commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the Teaching Hospital, described his patriotism towards the development of the country as unparalleled.
They noted that the establishment of the hospital would fulfil the long-standing aspirations of the community to become an economic pacesetter and role model in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, the Chairman of the Community Central Planning Committee for the establishment of the hospital, Dr Olufemi Oyinsan, called for the Federal Government’s support in securing other necessary administrative and executive approvals to ensure the immediate take-off and smooth operation of the new Teaching Hospital.
Oyinsan also expressed gratitude to the Minister for Health, Prof Muhammadu Ali Pate, and the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for their commitment to the establishment of the hospital.
He remarked that the key turning point for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital was the emergence of President Tinubu as the nation’s leader and the longevity granted by God to Pa Fasonranti.
According to him, previous efforts to establish the Teaching Hospital had been unsuccessful during past administrations.
He stated, “Indigenes of Akure have been working on this project for about two decades, long before many of us even got involved.
“But God favoured us by putting President Tinubu in office and also preserving the life of our father, Pa Fasonranti. Here we are today, to the glory of God.
“We thank everyone who has contributed in one way or another to the actualisation of the Teaching Hospital.”
The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, who led other leaders to visit the leader of the community and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasonranti, also praised President Tinubu, describing him as a leader with foresight.
Reacting, the Afenifere leader, Pa Fasonranti, showered encomiums on President Tinubu and expressed appreciation to those who have worked tirelessly to bring the Teaching Hospital to fruition.
Fasonranti urged all sons and daughters of Akure-speaking communities to contribute towards the completion of the hospital by collaborating with the Federal Government.
He expressed optimism that the Teaching Hospital would commence operations and run smoothly during his lifetime.
