One of the notable funeral companies in Nigeria, Apams Funeral Limited, has unveiled its new office and contact centre in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The office, located at Akah Road in the heart of the city, is the 18th in Nigeria. The event, which took place on Thursday, was attended by Reverend Fathers Livinus Chidi Ibekwe and Emmanuel Ime Umoh of the Catholic Diocese of Uyo, who prayed and conveyed their blessings.
Addressing a gathering of members of the Ukpor Improvement Union in Akwa Ibom State, who also graced the occasion in large numbers, the Chief Executive Officer of Apams Funeral Limited, Dr. Kevin Chukwumobi, thanked them for taking time out of their busy lives to honour his invitation at such short notice. He added that the event, which coincided with his birthday, would have been a larger celebration but for the recent burial of his immediate elder sister.
Dr. Chukwumobi recounted how it was during meetings of the Akuluno United Brothers Association at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, that he was convinced to expand into the city. He used the occasion to commend Chief Christian Chukwubuike (Nkeonyeneme na Ukpor), a stakeholder of the Ukpor Improvement Union, Akwa Ibom Branch, for his efforts in making this dream a reality.
Dr. Chukwumobi also noted that the presence of members of his community in Akwa Ibom has energised him and served as a morale booster.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Enobong Ekong, the Community Youth Leader of Uyo Village, commended Dr. Kevin Chukwumobi for involving them at every stage of the project. He confirmed that this was why many of them attended the event to show their solidarity. Mr. Ekong praised Dr. Chukwumobi for his business insight and assured him of their continued support for his success in Uyo.
While commending Apams’ bold business move in Uyo, Mr. Marcel Ugwumba, Chairman of the Ukpor Improvement Union, Akwa Ibom Branch, expressed joy over the expansion of the company’s presence in the city. “We are happy that you’re now here in Uyo. That is why we have come out en masse to join in this celebration. We can only continue to encourage you to continue to soar to greater heights in business because you’re our own,” Mr. Ugwumba said.
Supporting the Chairman, Mrs. Grace Egeonu, the Chairlady of the Ukpor Improvement Union, Akwa Ibom Branch, also praised Apams for his significant business achievements across the country.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the complex by Chief Tobechi Ejezie (Dike Igbo), former president of the Onitsha Sports Club and CEO of Club Euphoria, Port Harcourt.
