Oke-Ogun Dynamic Forum has empowered secondary school students with self-supporting skills in communities of Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State in order to widen their scope of relevance in the ever-changing 21st century.
Facilators of the forum at the one-day empowerment programme also sensitised 150 select students from secondary schools in Ofiki, Tede, Ago Are to the importance of acquisition of critical competencies for self-reliance and adaptability in today’s world.
The programme tagged: “Entrepreneur Skill Acquisition and Motivational Talk”, which held on the premises of the Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ago Are, was led by the Forum Coordinator, Eegundiran Abiodun.
Twenty teachers were also in attendance at the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Eegundiran recalled that the forum had, at different times, organised educative programmes, paid the National Examination Council (NECO) fees for indigent students, produced exercise books and white marker boards, among others, distributed to schools across the 10 local government areas of Oke-Ogun.
A member of the forum, Mr Adeyefa Abayomi, trained students at the programme on production of hair cream, body cream (Jerry) and Goya oil while another member, Mr Johnson Balogun, gave a motivational talk on “Excelling in Your Chosen Career”.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Adeife Ige, who stood in for the forum coordinator, said that one of the fundamental objectives of the programme is to boost the spirit of diligence and determination in the students towards breaking new grounds in academics, with a view to becoming first-rated scholars and professionals in their chosen fields of human endeavours.
In his closing remarks, Ogunleye Samuel expressed appreciation to the leadership of the host school for being accommodating while the programme lasted.
Speaking on behalf of other students at the event, Miss Abigail Oguntolu thanked the organisers of the programme for the empowerment.
She expressed the conviction that the knowledge gained from the facilators would bolster their scholarly efforts to finishing their studies in flying colours, and ultimately becoming shiny ambassadors of the forum and of their various schools in the local government area.
