Still reeling from the gruesome killing of a community head in Bokkos local government area of Plateau State and killing of other four persons in the neighbouring council, the father of former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Dariye, Pa. Defwan Dariye has been kidnapped.
A source closed to the family disclosed that septuagenarian was kidnapped in his house at Mushere in Bokkos local government area of the state on Thursday at about 4:00 am by gunmen numbering about seven and whisked him to an unknown destination.
The family source disclosed that the gunmen who arrived the community in motorcycles and a vehicle forced their ways into the compound of the old man and held the people therein hostage for close to ten minutes before they drove off.
“Since he was kidnapped yesterday, hunters and vigilantes people have been on the trail of the kidnappers without any headway. Also, they have not communicated with the family, we pray that they released him on time because of his age” he said.

He equally said that the chairman of the local government Yususf Mahanan and state Commissioner of police along with the DPO of the local government had visited the family with the assurance of tracking down the kidnappers.
The State Police Public Relation Officer ASP Ubah Gabriel who confirmed the incident said the man was kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday adding that men of the command are already on the trail of the kidnappers.
“The State Commissioner of Police had visited the family and deployed more men to the area. We are appealing to anyone who has useful information on the kidnapping to furnish the police with such” he said.
It would be recalled that Pa Defwan Dariye was kidnapped three years ago but was released by his captors and later found in Nasarawa State after a ransom had been paid. The latest incident makes it the second time he will be kidnapped.
