Kwara state command of the Nigeria Police has attested five persons allegedly involved in the killing of a 46 year old University of Ilorin graduate.
Tribune Online gathered that the deceased, identified as Lanre Adebayo, a Political Science graduate of the University of Ilorin was tortured to death on Monday, October 21, 2024 in the dead of the night.
It was also gathered that the arrested persons, who included a community chairman, two local vigilant security guards, and two others, were the assailants of the university graduate.
The incident occurred in Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West local government area of the state where Adebayo was reportedly involved in a heated argument with the local vigilant securitymen on his way home, which later escalated into violence.

Confirming the arrest of five male suspects in connection with the alleged murder of 46-year-old Lanre Adebayo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that the command had commenced investigation on the development.
“The case was reported to command headquarters on Wednesday evening, and the suspects, all males, have been brought in for further interrogation. Investigation is ongoing, and we will brief the press once it is concluded”, the PPRO said.
However, sources in the area said that the deceased was allegedly macheted to death around 10:00 p.m.
The suspects were arrested by police operatives on Tuesday and transferred to the Kwara State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Wednesday.
