Adamawa State Governor, Ahamdu Finitiri has commissioned various TEFUND intervention projects in Adamawa state Polytechnic.
Finitiri, while commissioning the projects, commended TETFUND for the giant stride in the intervention of the Infrastructural development of institutions in the last three years urging the students to compliment the effort of TETFUND and the state government by taking their studies seriously.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Higher and Professional Education Dr Dishi Kobe said ” my administration is committed to giving the educational sector the support for students to excel.”
” I commend the leadership of this Institution for using the TETFUND grant judiciously and we on our part will continue to support the school to achieve the desire goals of making Adamawa state a centre of excellence in terms of educational development.”
Earlier, the Rector of Adamawa state Polytechnic, Professor Ibrahim Umar said the institution in the last three was able to complete and the rehabilitation of 13 projects in its three campuses in the state.
Among projects completed and inaugurated included the Social and Management Science Complex named after the governor, “RT. HON. AHAMDU UMARU FINITIRI COMPLEX.”
The Rector also informed the governor that the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) has approved seven degree programs for the institution to be affiliated to the University of Maiduguri.
He added that “the National Board for Technical Education ( NBTE) was here in the school in September, this year for resource verification for the mounting of five of our newly proposed programs which include Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Science among others.”
Professor Ibrahim Umar noted that “these successes would not have been possible without the 100% approval of the governor to use its internally generated revenue and the financial support from the state government”
He thanked the management, academic and non-academic staff for their support since he assumed office.
Also speaking, the Chairman Governing Council of the Institution, Professor David Shall, thanked Governor Finitiri for giving the educational sector particularly the state Polytechnic that has now grown from glorified Secondary School to a higher institution.
Highlights of the occasion were the commissioning of the projects and the ground-braking ceremony of the proposed new projects.
