Shina Sanyaolu, a well-known Nigerian producer and director in the Yoruba film industry, has passed away.
The president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, confirmed the news on Instagram, though the cause and date of his death remain unclear.
Tributes have since poured in from colleagues in the industry.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko described Sanyaolu as a “beacon of kindness and warmth” who was always ready to help others, particularly recalling his hospitality toward Nigerian artists travelling to the UK in the 1980s.
He praised Sanyaolu’s generosity and lasting impact on those who knew him.
Doyin Amodu, TAMPAN UK president, also mourned his loss, calling him a great supporter of the arts and a beloved director.
Sanyaolu was known for his exceptional skills in directing and was involved in the production of popular films such as The Honourable, Two Wives, and Omo Olosan.
