THE Federal Government has called on students and pupils in schools to embrace science and technology subjects in line with the desire for the technological advancement of Nigeria.
Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mohammed Abdullahi, who made the call when members of Mararaba Political Forum, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja, urged parents to encourage their children to embrace science subjects in schools, especially Engineering and Mathematics.
He told members of the forum who are from Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, to drum it to parents, the need to encourage their children to focus on the sciences from their formative age.
Abdullahi further stated that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are important to national development as they could enhance the quality of life and future of their children.
According to him, technology drives every economy, military operations and almost every area of human endeavours, so the future, fate and destiny of the world depend on technology.
The minister appealed to the Nasarawa State indigenes to live peacefully with their neighbours and embrace themselves as one entity.
He expressed satisfaction with the solidarity, cooperation and harmony existing among them and believed that such would continue to the next generation.
Earlier, the chairman of the delegation, Mr. Usman Umar Bazza, said members of the forum were in his office to congratulate him on his appointment as minister and to commiserate with him on the recent demise of his step-mother.
