Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, made the commitment when he met with a delegation from the Ebonyi Independent Power Plant Limited.
He noted that the consortium was to construct 4185MW Gas Fired Power Plant Project in Ebonyi State.
The SGF expressed the Federal Government’s full commitment to investing in infrastructure that would meet the needs of its citizenry.
The SGF told the visiting delegation that government would welcome business men with genuine intention to do business in the country as there was an enabling environment for investment to thrive.
“The government alone cannot meet the demand for infrastructural development occasioned by the country’s rapidly growing population and is happy to welcome genuine investors,” he said.

Mustapha further assured the group that government would do everything possible to support them wherever there were constraints in getting requisite approvals from relevant government agencies.
“We want to invite the whole world to come and invest in Nigeria. As a country and government, we are interested in issuance of any licence and we will treat it with dispatch,” he added.
He presented to the investors the areas of the country’s concern such as tackling the 17 million housing deficit, energy distribution because of the rise in the generation among other things.
EIPP LTD and its delegates investing in the Nigerian Energy Sector, received the backing of the Federal government for the project as they reaffirmed its commitment to invest the sum of $10 billion in the Ebonyi Independent Power Project (EIPP) and all the associated facilities.
The delegation was led by Mr Terry Moreland, chairman, Hodges and Bakersfield Limited and President/CEO of EIPP.
Moreland explained that the EIPP was a public-private partnership between Hodges & Bakersfield Limited and the Ebonyi State Government.
The project is a 4185MW Power Plant to be sited at the West Bank of the Cross River on Oferekpe/Akahufu Inyimagu land in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
He added that it would be carried out in three phases; the project gas, transmission lines and power plant and their construction would begin in 90 days time.
Moreland, who gave assurance of their technical and financial capacity to finance the project and further support governments infrastructural development said their visit to the SGF was to reaffirm government’s support for the power project in the country.
