The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, clinched five Area Councils including AMAC, Bwari, Kwali, Kuje and Abaji Area Councils. The People Democratic Party, PDP, won in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Airing his views on the election, Mamedu said, “We saw a good number of result sheets tampered with. Some results uploaded were not visible.
“We are aware of some polling units where only seven people came out to vote. Polls closed by 2:30 pm but the BVAS upload of results sheets didn’t come in until late in the evening. Nigerians need to demand more from INEC.”

FCT Council Polls: Many Result Sheets Altered, Not Visible on BVAS – ActionAid Alleges
The Country Director of ActionAid, Andrew Mamedu, has alleged that several result sheets were tampered with during the just concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Mamedu made the claim on Monday while speaking on Morning Show on Arise Television, raising concerns over the transparency of the electoral process.
He stated that the group observed multiple irregularities, including altered result sheets and issues with the uploading of results through the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
“We saw a good number of result sheets tampered with. Some results uploaded were not visible,” Mamedu said.
He further disclosed that in some polling units, voter turnout was extremely low, with reports indicating that as few as seven voters were accredited. According to him, although polls officially closed around 2:30 p.m., uploads of result sheets via BVAS were delayed until late in the evening.
The FCT Area Council elections were conducted over the weekend by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the exercise, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in five area councils — Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Kwali, Kuje and Abaji — while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Mamedu urged Nigerians to demand greater accountability and transparency from INEC to strengthen public trust in the country’s electoral system.
