Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan, Oyo state has advocated the enlistment of monotechnic nationwide as beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Trust FUND in order to aid research as well infrastructural development.
The Provost of the College, Dr Ibrahim Oduola Lawal made the request at a press briefing as part of the activities lined up for the 85th of the College and 76th-83rd combined Convocation ceremony in Ibadan on Thursday.
He submitted that if needed funds are made available for monotechnic especially in the area of funding most of the problems confronting the Country in the Health sector would have become a thing of the past.
The Provost disclosed that the Institution have designed some courses with a sole aim of combating terminal ailments as well environmental challenges.

According to him, The Department of Bio-Science and Indigenous Science and Bio-Technology comes at the right time. It will give us great opportunity to train and teach the students the potent and usage medicine.
“The course will expose them to so many things including the importance of herbal medicine and how to take good care of the society.
“Investment in further research on herbal medicine will serve as succor to the high cost of the conventional drugs in the society.
“Also, there is need for the Federal government to enlist the monotechnic as beneficiaries of the TETFUND
Federal College of Forestry, according to him is a hub for protecting the environmental issue in the Country.
“We are training students to combat the environmental issue as well researching on the way of combating the Climate change and ensuring that flooding and deforestation become a thing of the past in the Country.
On the scheduled convocation ceremony, the Provost disclosed that the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo with be delivering a lecture entitled, “85th year of Nurturing Nature; The legacy and future of forestry education in Nigeria.
The 6th day events will commence with Jumat service on Friday and rounds off with fund raising ceremony next Thursday.
