Youth Corp members have been charged to use their service year to explore various entrepreneurial opportunities that would make them self-reliant.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Investment, Trade and Industries, Chief David Olusoga, gave the advice on Wednesday in his office in Ado-Ekiti at a parley with Youth Corps members deployed to the ministry, the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports.
Olusoga said the Nigerian youth, particularly corps members should look beyond seeking white collar
jobs, which were no longer available after completing the compulsory national exercise.

The commissioner noted that they could use their one year compulsory service period to acquire new
knowledge and skills that would give them a good start-up in life.
He restated the commitment of the Ekiti State government to prioritise the welfare of all corps members, saying they would be adequately catered for.
The Commissioner, however, charged them to be diligent and of good behaviour throughout their stay, assuring them that outstanding corps members in the ministry would be rewarded.
In response, the corp members appealed to the commissioner to use his office to influence the government to assist them in the provision of accommodation.
They also pleaded for payment of stipends as transport subsidy as well as issuance of dispatch certificate or certificate of participation to them from their office of primary assignment.
They said that could form part of their curriculum vitae and evidence of working experience when seeking employment.
The corps members, however, pledged their dedication and commitment to work.
