Ex-IGP’s wife, others pay condolence visit to late Clark’s family

As more Nigerians troop to the Abuja residence of late leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark to pay their condolences, South-South women who are residents in Abuja were not left out as they organized themselves to the family of their 97-year-old deceased leader.

Among the delegations from the South-South women were the wife of the former Inspector General of the Police, Mrs Agharese Arase, former Spokesperson of the Department of State Service (DSS), Marilyn Ogar, Brid. Gen. Sotonye Winifred Alui (RTD), National Director, Legal & Public Affairs, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Barr. Dame Comfort Otera Chigbue and many others.

Dame Tumini Akogun, Leader of the South-South women’s Delegation while speaking during the condolence visit, while describing the late Clark as a leader of the South-South, said the region is proud of him.

Akogun also described the late PANDEF leader as the defender of the South-South, who stood against oppression and wicked leaders.

“We have a lot to say about Baba, it is not a day issue, Baba was somebody that the South-South is proud of, we knew him as a great fighter for his own people and for everybody that came his way when he knew you, he will not let your matter go just like that, whatever you complain to him, Baba will take it up.

“We the women of the South-South have come here to mourn our great leader, a giant of South-South, the defender of our resource control, the voice of the Niger Delta, a fearless man who is a threat to those fraudulent and wicked leaders, always speaking out against inhumanity and oppression.

“We have lost a great and selfless father indeed, Baba you have fought a good fight and won many, we pray that God almighty will come forth for his wife, his children, his immediate family and also his extended family”, she noted.

While addressing journalists after the condolence visit, the Spokesperson of the women’s delegation, Mrs Marilyn Ogar said; ”We are the women from the South-South of Nigeria resident in Abuja. Pa Clark was a voice for the voiceless, and you know that we are considered a minority, but Pa Clark was one person who did not believe in injustice and he always would speak that no matter how long you will allow an injustice to fester, it can never make it right.

“And knowing that he is gone, crying that he is a Nigerian and that he loves Nigeria, he has only shown that the Niger Delta produces only the best and we believe in the best. We are Nigerians, we will remain Nigerians and we love Nigeria, may the soul of Pa Clark rest in peace.

Other members of the delegation include Mrs Saadat Abdullahi Ibrahim, Mrs MaryJude Ayodele, Chief Monique Ogon, Mrs Gertrude Amba.
