The Oba of Benin Palace in Benin City, Edo State, has disclosed that the Late Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin kingdom, before his recent demise, specified how his burial rites would be conducted.
This revelation came to light when the Eghaevbo N’Ore (outside functionaries of the palace) category of Palace Chiefs, led by Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase (traditional Prime Minister of Benin), along with other Benin Chiefs, formally announced Chief Edebiri’s passing in a sombre moment at the Palace.
Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin, stated in a press release that the Palace also granted the request by Edebiri’s family to proceed with the burial rites of their Patriarch, whose death occurred a few days ago.
