According to her, while interacting with sports journalists on the successful completion of its three-day annual convention in Abakaliki which had the theme: ‘Closer to Nature—Games Festival (Gamesfest) said the people of Ebonyi need to realise that non-existence of nightlife activities in the state would hinder rapid development and other benefits to the state.
She urged Ebonyi citizens to utilise the good road networks and illuminating lights in the town to carry out night activities and also familiarise with their surroundings to enhance their social status and economic well being.
She noted that the association does not engage in politics and when it discovers political undertones in its activity, it withdraws from such.

“The quality infrastructure provided by the government and the beautiful landscape of the city should make the citizens engage in nightlife as obtained in other developed areas.
“The association discovered with dismay that most residents of Abakaliki go to bed by 9 pm and we want to tell them there are more to life than working eating and sleeping.
“We have to state that contrary to insinuation in the state, we were not invited by the state government to engage in any political activity as we are apolitical.
“We don’t depend on the government to support our activities due to bureaucracy and if we need any form of sponsorship, we approach private investors for what we call partnership and but this does not mean we would decline any offer for sponsorship from any government.
Meanwhile, Mrs Joann Otaru disclosed that over 24 Ebonyi women were conducted free cancer screening as part of the association’s social responsibilities.
