Ekiti guber aspirant offsets surgery bill of accident victim

A governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Demola Popoola has once again demonstrated his philanthropist gesture but offsetting the medical bill of an accident victim identified as Tayo Alabi in the state.

It was gathered that Alabi who developed urinary complications after he survived a motor accident, needed about N460,000 for surgery which he could not afford.

The victim, who made spirited appeals to well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid after he was stranded in the Police cottage hospital in Okesa area of the state capital got a swift response from the philanthropist politician.

Popoola, through his foundation, christened ODEP approached the hospital management where the victim is being treated to foot the medical bill.

In her remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Dr Famewo Ukehmigbewon commended the politician for his generosity of spirit in assisting the poor and the needy in the society.

She described Popoola, ” as a God sent angel to Tayo Alabi and also a man of the people because of his philanthropic virtues.”

Also thanking his benefactor, Alabi, explained that he has never met the politician before, but someone gave him his contact amidst of him begging for help for his medical bills.

He appreciated for coming through for him for his medical bills and he prayed that God will grant all his heart desires.

It will be recalled that Popoola had donated of a sum of N1million to an undergraduate of the Federal University of Technology,Akure(FUTA), who had undergone brain surgery at the Afe Babalola Multisystem Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

Recall that many accident victims and patients have enjoyed Popoola’s benevolence in the last few weeks, amongst them one Itunu Ojo, who was admitted at the Government General Hospital Oye Ekiti after complications as a result of an ectopic pregnancy.

Ojo was also stranded and her plight got the attention of ODEP Foundation which promptly waded in and paid a visit to the patient at the hospital and thereafter defrayed the medical bills.
