THE Edo State Chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih has slammed the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over his open declaration that the sins of former PDP members who join the ruling party are forgiven once they defect.
Oshiomhole was jocularly quoted as saying on Thursday in Benin during a presidential rally of the APC when some PDP leaders from Edo North defected to the ruling party that “once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven.”
But Orbih who spoke in Benin yesterday was however not amused by the open declaration, insisting that Oshiomhole’s confession goes to show the belief in some quarters that APC as a party is a collection of hypocrites who are only out to witch hunt members of the opposition under the guise of fighting corruption.
He said: “It Is now clear to Nigerians that the people in APC are hypocrites who instead of going to God to beg for the forgiveness of their sins, go to APC for political forgiveness.”
Continuing, the Edo opposition party leader insisted that the APC national party leader declaration clearly showed that those who do not belong to the APC are intimated and hounded on trump up corruption charges so that they can join the party “and their sins are forgiven.”
Orbih added that when he heard and watched Oshiomole confessing on television, what came to his mind was that works will beside those who persecute political opponents and say that their sins are forgiven
Against the backdrop be of Oshiomhole’s open confession, the Edo PDP boss said: “Nigeria must reject the APC and their pack of evildoers whose sins cannot be forgiven by mere political association. If they sin, they should seek the face of God for forgiveness. By this open declaration, Oshiomole has admitted that APC is a party of sinners.”
