Traditional ruler of Otumara community in Lagos Mainland local government of Lagos State, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has urged Christians across the country to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ as they celebrate this year’s Easter.
Kalejaiye in his message issued on Sunday to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ advised that a true believer must be selfless, patience and be seen at all times to display Christ-like attitudes.
He noted that, “On this occasion of the celebration of the resurrection of our lord Jesus Christ, a true believer in Christ must be seen to be selfless and patient and all display Christ-like attitude among fellow citizens.”
He stressed that good neighbourliness being one of the many teachings of Jesus Christ, this he said, must be imbibed by all, especially at a time when the State and the country at large is facing a series of challenges.
While reminding Christians about the betrayal of trust and love that led to the death of Jesus Christ, he said, “As we celebrate Easter, I am extending my best wishes to residents in Otumara community especially Christians in Lagos State and across the country.
“As we mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I urge all Christians to continue to live in peace and harmony with people of other religions. We should emulate virtues of humility, perseverance and compassion as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
“As Christians, we must love, trust and have confidence in the government of the day. We should not betray the social contract that bonds us together as a nation. We have to reflect on how best to positively impact society.
“We have to reflect on how to impact on the lives of friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. We have to resurrect the spirit of communal living where everyone looks after the interest of everyone. This is when we can truly say we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
While praying for a more prosperous Lagos State, Kalejaiye enjoined Lagosians to intensify prayers for peace and security in all parts of the country.
