The All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), led by Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni may have declared war on its chieftains in Delta state who secured an order restraining the CECPC from acting or parading themselves as the leadership of the party.
National Secretary of the CECPC, Senator John Akpanudoedehe dropped the hint on Thursday while briefing the Local Government Congresses Committees ahead of the conduct of its Congresses on Saturday.
Nigerian Tribune checks revealed that the Deputy Chairman of the APC in Delta state, Olorogun Elvis Ayomanor had approached the Court to challenge the outcome of the Ward Congress in the State.
Ruling on the exparte motion, Justice Onome Marshal Umukoro of the Delta State High Court, Asaba had stopped the scheduled APC Local Government Congress in Delta State slated for Saturday.
Senator Akpanudoede in a prepared speech read to newsmen and the party chieftains at the party national secretariat declared that the CECPC enjoyed the blessing of President Muhammadu Buhari to deal with recalcitrant members.
Akpanudoedehe also recalled that a resolution of the meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party held last December had stated in clear terms that anyone who initiate legal action against the party would be reprimanded.
He said:”We also use this opportunity to reiterate the resolution of NEC of our party to severely sanction members and their sponsors who take the party to court. His Excellency (Hon) Mai Mala Buni is determined to carry out to the letter the instructions of our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, which is to rebuild the party, button up. The process has reached an advanced ground stage.”
While asking the Local Government Congress Committees to proceed with the assignment they have been saddled with, the Governor Buni led CECPC maintained that the recently conducted ward Congresses were bereft of irregularities and had since been adopted.
“Rest assured that your assignment, as well as the earlier Ward Congresses nationwide, is legally protected. We are on solid ground.
“Consequently, the CECPC ratifies and adopts the results of the party’s earlier nationwide Ward Congresses held on Saturday July 31st, 2021, however, any State Caretaker Committee who swears in any person or group of persons who are not elected through a congress conducted by the designated National Congress Committee of the Party is null, void and of no effect. However, where there are still complaints, the CECPC would be fair to all.
“Accordingly, the CECPC hereby directs you all to go and conduct nation-wide Local Government (LGA) Congresses on Saturday, September 4, 2021, as contained in the official timetable/schedule of activities released by the party.”
