COVID-19 kills NCDC supervisor in Zamfara

The National Council for Diseases Control ( NCDC) has lost supervisor in Zamfara State, Dr.J. Shalanga, who died as a result of COVID-19 in the state.

Dr Shalanga who died today, until his death he was the supervisor posted to Zamfara State by the National Council for the Disease Control (NCDC) to supervise the spread and control of COVID-19 in the state.

Dr Shalanga has been in the state since the beginning of the spread of the disease three months ago.

According to the Commissioner of health, Alhaji Yahaya Kanoma, the Dr Shalanga fell sick in his hotel room and was rushed to the Yariman Bakura Specialist hospital Gusau for treatment but died on the road before reaching the hospital.

The commissioner said when his blood was tested, it was discovered that he died of a coronavirus.

His remains, according to the Commissioner has been taken to his hometown in Plateau state for burial.

He debunked the rumour that the state has stopped blood test of victims suspected to be infected with COVID 19.

“Let me tell you, there was never a time when we stopped testing of suspect in the state.
