The Deputy Governor
Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Sen Baba Tela who tested positive to COVID-19 infection 10 days ago has now tested negative and discharged from isolation just as one of the medical personnel who tested positive to the infection has died while receiving treatment.
The disclosure was made by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro Mohammed during the weekly update of the situation of the pandemic in the state.
He declared that checks have revealed that 60 per cent of the positive cases recorded in the state is transported in while the remaining are from community transmission and the initial index cases in the state.
Aliyu Maigoro further clarified that out of the 69 positive cases recorded in the state on Tuesday, half were from the Military personnel who are in the state for an assignment as well as some people who are going into the prisons.
The Commissioner further said that the Committee is mapping out a new strategy that will enable it to effectively combat the pandemic as has been done in the countries whereby the treatment was scaled down to the local level.
He however assured that the Committee is working round the clock to ensure that there will be no community transmission of the infection in the state.

While corroborating what the Health Commissioner said, Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BASPHCDA), Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said that the positive cases smuggled their ways into Bauchi due to the relaxation of the lockdown.
He, however, said that the isolation centres across the state are fully functional and always ready to take in positive cases and offer the required treatment and management declaring that there will not be home management of any case.
The Executive Chairman expressed happiness that with the molecular laboratory now functional in Bauchi, all sample tests are done in the centre which he said has made management very easy.
He then assured that surveillance and contact tracing will be intensified to ensure that everyone symptomatic was taken, tested, isolated and treated saying that the committee is working round the clock.
Rilwanu Mohammed, however, lamented as soon as the lockdown was relaxed people went back to their normal routine of living abandoning all the preventive protocol of regular hands washing with soap and water, physical and social distancing practice, wearing of face mask and other things.
