CIIN to launch UK chapter —Ilori

THE Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will officially launch its United Kingdom chapter as soon as all necessary documents are in place.

This was disclosed by the President/Chairman of Council, CIIN, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, when she met with the members of the Insurance Institute in the United Kingdom for collaboration.

Mrs. Ilori engaged members in diaspora on all pressing issues to both the members and the Institute in a bid to ensure that all members, irrespective of their location actively participate in the affairs of the Institute.

She welcomed participants to the virtual meeting with emphasis on relevance for the members at all times in the Institute, noting that it was the first of its kind since her investiture as the 52nd president of the foremost Insurance Institute.

She lauded the members for their support during her investiture ceremony, noting that she is committed to making members in the diaspora relevant in the insurance industry in their motherland, and shared how the Institute brought a member in the diaspora to facilitate a session at the Year 2024 CIIN Insurance Professionals’ Forum in Abeokuta.

The president emphasised on her EPIC agenda, the importance of insurance in an economy themed: “Igniting the bedrock of our envisioned industry”, which is expected to be actualised under the agenda summarised in a four-letter acronym EPIC: Education, Professionalism, Institutional Recognition and Capacity Building.

Mrs Abimbola Tiamiyu Registrar of the Institute, said members in diaspora mean so much to the Institute as their interest is paramount, and assured that the CIIN is committed to its primary assignment of satisfying the yearnings of its members at home and abroad.

The CIIN president also mentioned the recently launched E-learning Community of the Institute on Roducate Platform on IOS and Android smartphones, and encouraged members in the diaspora to embrace this platform for learning.

She pointed out that the institute’s monthly E-newsletter and annual journal capture current happenings within the Nigerian insurance industry.

A UK-based member of the institute, Olugbenga Fijimi, commended the president and the registrar for considering those in the diaspora as part of the member-based institute.

Some members volunteered to be more actively involved in the affairs of the institute and showed interest in joining the various committees of the council and also appealed for better collaborations between the CII London and CIIN.

The president informed the UK-based members of her plan to move the CIIN Secretariat to its new site in Victoria Island, noting that workers will resume at there soonest, and solicited financial support from members for the institute to have a befitting edifice.
