Chrysolite Crew: Rehabilitated children preaching against hopelessness through dance

Chrysolite Crew, also known by the appellation God’s Eye, is more than a dance crew, it is an empowerment ministry which takes children off the streets and gives them a new beginning.  It also encourages them on a journey of self expression through dance. It is an organisation based in Ibadan and is made up of orphans, fatherless, motherless children as well as the less privileged children picked off the streets.

The Chrysolite children; Keru Fathia (9 years), Ikechuwku Favour (13 years), Ikechukwu Victor (16 years),  Damisa Feranmi (15 years), Ishola Timileyin (13 years) and Omotere (two years), are using their experience to preach the gospel and encourage other children in their situation not to lose hope or give up as God has a plan for everyone.

Founded April 14, 2015 by Akinrinoye Joshua Oluwaseun, popular known as Legzxybee, the Chrysolite crew has bagged several awards; Winner of CEO Africa awards in 2017, Winner of TVS Naija dance 2018, Winner of Kids Got Moves 2019, Best dance Crew 2019 awarded by Kaffy, Winner of Easter fiesta talent hunt 2019, Winner of de9jaspirit talent hunt dance category and first runner up in overall talent 2020 at Calabar, winner of grooming talent hunt 2021, Winner of Felaboration aerobics dance competition 2022 and first runner up at Felaboration aerobics dance competition 2023.

The crew’s vision is to raise godly children and unlock the potential and lead them to the right path to their destiny with the leading and instruction of God and they are currently working on showcasing their skills at the British Got talent or the America Got talent

For Legzxybee, the mission is to use dance to catch them young for Christ and lead them to the right path, which will lead them to God’s kingdom and find them doing something unique. He basically wants to take children off the street’s and give them a new life while igniting their passion to make something out of life.

All the children in the crew are sent back to school and are combining mesmerising and emotion-filled performances with full schooling. While it is not easy for to do both at a time, they are performing excellently both in school and their spell-binding performances and dance steps inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Funding is an issue to the laudable project considering the exorbitant amount needed to buy costumes, feed the children, pay school fees and provide other essentials among others, the determination to make a difference keeps the team going.

For children that had been written off, dance has added value to their lives and taken them to places they never dreamt they could reach. And they believe that their unique selling point aside using their lives as a message of hope is the passion and lack of fear that is prevalent in their performances.
