How you can be changed into another person

Many years ago, it dawned on me that the kind of person I needed to become was not the kind of person I was. And by devouring many relevant books written by men and women who walked the planet-earth before me, I was able to learn that I would need to change the kind of company of folks I was hanging out with at that time in order to become another person. As an effect of the acquired knowledge, on a sunny afternoon, I needed to urgently choose between mediocrity and destiny. And because of my loyalty to my future, I did part with mediocrity forever! And I am so much better for it today.

I hope I am able to push you today to severe relationship with those who detest wisdom and knowledge. As long as you continue to keep company with the wrong people, right things cannot happen in your life. The company of people you keep in life is everything. You want to change into the right figure that fits your purpose in life, then kindly and keenly evaluate the kind of people you have chosen to surround yourself with. This is non-negotiable, on the condition that you want to fulfill destiny in life.

I need to let you know that the days of being a lone range are dead and gone forever! Buddy, do not attempt to live your life alone. There is no wisdom in it. Infact, only those who are not astute do try to live their life alone. Maybe one of the major reasons you were unable to do much with your life was because you were running the race of life alone. Am I right? I have been to so many places to make presentations and my hosts would admit and own up that they were running their life alone. Once again, stop living your life alone!

Also, over the years, this secret has worked a lot of wonder in my life, leadership and business. What secret? This is it: When you locate the company of those who have what you lack, you’d be changed into another person. This is a very powerful secret. Walk it out in shoe-leather and watch everything about you changed. Furthermore, you need to understand that everyone is not relevant to your purpose on earth. This understanding is going to help you a lot in life.

In the same vein, you want your foreground to be different from your background? Then, locate your own unique company. The company of folks you keep will either change your life or cause you to maintain the status-quo. You want those who used to know you find it impossible to recognize you when they meet with you some years later? Then walk your way into a new company of those who have what you lack. This will change your life forever!

Once again, nothing changes about you until you change the company of folks you keep. You cannot walk closely with giants and not end as one. Impossible! When you change what you feed on, the quality of your life improves almost immediately. Stop feeding on what mediocre feed on and start feeding on what giants are feeding on. Over the years, I have chosen to surround myself with some giants—who are relevant to my destiny and they have made it impossible for me to think and behave as mediocre. Do same thing today and watch everything about your life changed.

Also, one thing the right company of folks you keep creates is the appropriate atmosphere you’d need as water—to get to where you are going in life. If you keep company with fools, in no distant time, you’d start thinking, speaking (and doing) just like them. Refuse to keep company with fools. Who is a fool? A fool is someone who detests wisdom and knowledge. Be sincere with yourself. In the last five years, what value has those who currently walk with you added to you? Do they buy and read through books or they do not value books, let alone reading through them? In my own life, if I have built a system around me that automatically fences out of my life those who neither buy books nor read through them.

Many years ago, a would be protégé came to me for a one-on-one counseling session (this is one of the things I do in my company). He was not doing very well in life and he needed a few things changed about his life. As an effect of this, I needed to diagnose what the problem was. After a few hours with him, it became clear to me—that he was keeping the wrong company of people. I simply told him to severe relationship with them and this was his thoughtless response: “I love these people…” His response on that day has helped me to know the reason many people are held back in life. Before he left me office, he was helped to make the required decision and the rest they say is history. Today, he is a different person.

As long as he loved those who hated wisdom and knowledge, he remained at same level of life. I have met with too many young folks; that their best friends are people who hate wisdom and knowledge. And they are wondering why they are not making much progress in life. For the umpteenth time, the company of people you are keeping is everything. To change your life and business, you would need to change the company of people you are keeping.

Before I go, many folks unwittingly love failure, but they desire success. Remember, you cannot keep hanging out with those who are not going to where you are going in life and expect to end well in life. And how can someone who desires to become successful be hanging out with those who have chosen to cling to failure in life? Today, stop hanging out with those who have chosen to fail in life and start hanging out with great people. This will change your life forever.
