A Construction expert and Chairman, Halden Macall, Edward Akinlade have asked the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to employ the services of certified structural engineers under the aegis of COREN in order to ensure that all buildings comply with the set standards.
Edward, who spoke to Tribune Online on Monday, explained that the professional has the requisite knowledge if a building is in consonance with international standards.
The Chairman noted that this is very important because the government is short-staffed to implement the monitoring strategies.
He, therefore, prayed for the non-occurrence of another collapse if the needful is not done as at when due.
“The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu should employ the services of certified structural engineers under the aegis of COREN in order to ensure that all buildings comply with the set standards.
“The Professionals have the requisite knowledge to detect if a building is in consonance with international standards.
“This is very important because the government does not have the manpower to implement the monitoring strategies.
“I pray for the non-occurrence of another collapse if the needful is not done as at when due,” he said.
