The Chairman of the Board of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC), Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the four staff members who tragically lost their lives at the Gubi Water Treatment Plant on Sunday.
In a personally signed condolence message issued to journalists on Monday, Zainabari said:
“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I, on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC), extend our profound condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of our four fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty at the Gubi Fam Water Treatment Plant.”
He explained that the tragic incident occurred during a scheduled maintenance operation and has brought immense grief to the Corporation and the entire Bauchi community.
The deceased were identified as Shayibu Hamza, 48; Abdulmalik Yahya, 29; Jamilu Inusa, 29; and Ibrahim Musa. Zainabari described them as “dedicated professionals who served the people of Bauchi State with unwavering commitment and dignity.”

“This heartbreaking loss is not only a personal tragedy for their loved ones but also a significant loss to the water sector in the state. Their contributions to the improvement and sustainability of our urban water system will forever be remembered,” he added.
He stated that the institution was deeply devastated by the incident and assured the bereaved families of the Corporation’s full support during this difficult period.
“Plans are underway to honour their memory in a lasting and respectful manner,” he said.
Zainabari also urged all staff across the agency’s facilities to continue upholding values of diligence and safety, while reaffirming the Corporation’s commitment to strengthening safety protocols to prevent such occurrences in the future.
He concluded with a prayer:
“May the Almighty, in His infinite mercy, grant the deceased eternal rest and provide their families with the strength and fortitude to endure this irreplaceable loss.”
