A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out a suit challenging the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conclude, collate, and announce the governorship election results from Tafawa Balewa Local Government in Bauchi State.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo,in his ruling on Monday, dismissed the suit as according to him, the court lacked jurisdiction on the case.
The Federal High Court in Abuja had last week granted an order restraining INEC from collating Tafawa Balewa governorship election results a development that created the political situation in the state.
An ex-parte motion had been filed by Governor Mohammed Abubakar challenging the resumption of collation of gubernatorial election results as directed by INEC.
But by the latest development, it is expected that INEC will proceed with the collation of the governorship election results from Tafawa-Balewa LGA and eventually declare the winner any moment from now.
It will be recalled that PDP gubernatorial candidate, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, is ahead of Governor Mohammed Abubakar with over 5, 000 votes following the supplementary election held on Saturday.
