THE ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned an emergency caucus meeting for Monday, February 19, 2019, following the postponement of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The meeting scheduled to hold 11:00 am, at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, according to inside sources, is aimed at reviewing the party’s winning strategies ahead of the February 23 presidential and national assembly elections.
The INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, had, after the Commission’s stakeholders meeting held late Friday night to very early in the morning of Saturday, February 16, announced the postponement of Nigeria’s elections, blaming it on logistics and difficulties it encountered in distributing sensitive election materials, among others reasons.
The election, according to INEC, after announcing its postponement is expected to hold on Saturday, February 23 for the presidential and national assembly elections, while that of the governorship, states assembly and Abuja council elections hold on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
