Speaking during her birthday celebration and launch of the project, Chief Orija-Adesoye stated, “As I am grateful to you all for joining me in celebrating my 83rd birthday, I like to use today to dwell more on service to humanity. My greatest joy today is seeing my dream of giving back to society take off gradually as the founder of Oranyan Heritage Foundation (OHF).
“The Oranyan Heritage Foundation (OHF) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation, set up with 21st-century developmental challenges in focus. It was founded to lift the socio-cultural and economic value of the host community, Oyo and its environs. Within the OHF focus, the Museum of Black Women In History (MoBWIH) and other projects of OHF are also not-for-profit.
Oranyan Heritage Foundation is founded to lift the socio-cultural and economic value of the host community, Oyo and its environs. It has been charged with so many responsibilities in ensuring developmental revolutionaries in Oyo societies ranging from data and information preservation to the exploration of all the traditional, economical and historical heritage of Oranyan and Oyo at different perspectives relating to their fundamental developments” she said.
According to the founder, OHF will be built on 50 acres of land donated by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who is the current custodian of the legendary Oranmiyan Omoluabi Odede, Great Prince of Ife, and the prime heir of Oduduwa, and the natural Grand Patron of Oranyan Heritage Foundation (OHF).
She added that the OHF’s MoBWIH took off with a foundation laying ceremony on January 13, 2021, as part of events that commemorated the 50th Coronation anniversary of the Alaafin of Oyo and is being managed by Lumin-Artica, a management company specialising in Art, Culture and Tourism.
“Lumin-Artica, co-founded by UK-based global artist Lanre Olagoke and Lagos, Nigeria-based Advisor on the Arts, Tajudeen Sowole, is focused on building capacity for corporate and individual in the creative industry,” she said.
She stated further that OHF has plans for other community development projects for the benefit of the entire people of Oyo and black persons from the Diaspora; OHF hospitality home apartments, OHF warehousing facility, OHF agricultural development initiative, OHF Arts and Crafts Gallery and OHF Mother and Child care Center.
In his contribution, Prince Abdulrasheed Akinade Adeyemi, who led the delegation from the palace, said he is filled with joy that God gave Chief Orija-Adesoye the grace to clock 83 years and pursue her vision for the museum, adding that she is important to the royal family because she is royalty and a princess of Oyo town.
According to him, ” though she was brought up in Lagos and she has no tribal mark, she is from the royal family. We are all looking forward to the OHF reaching its pinnacle and touching lives within and outside Oyo and we pray that we all live to witness the foundation’s success story.”
