Barely 24 hours after foiling an armed robbery attack which led to the death of one of the suspected armed robbers, Bauchi State Police Command on Monday foiled another armed robbery and kidnap attempt in Bununu, headquarters of Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State.
A resident of the town told our Correspondent in Bauchi that the suspected armed robbers and kidnappers stormed the area at about 8 pm on Monday with the intention of kidnapping one of the businessmen in the town (names withheld) who was just said to have withdrawn an undisclosed amount of money earlier in the day.
The resident disclosed further that the armed men numbering about ten stormed the residence of their target shooting sporadically into the air forcing the people to scamper for safety thereby giving the robbers enough space to carry out the operation.

He added that after searching frantically for their target who was said to have escaped through the back door of his house to take cover in the bushes, the armed men had to go all over the town for about one hour looking for him.
While the Operation was going on, the Police were said to have been contacted and immediately went for the rescue operation. They exchangedĀ fire with the armed men in the process forcing them to retreat and run into the bush for escape.
While confirming the incidence, Bauchi Command PPRO, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar said that “Yes, there was an attempted robbery and kidnap in Bununu, however,, the Bauchi State Police Command responded immediately after receiving the report and we are on the trail of the suspects.”
The PPRO reassured citizens of the state of the resolve of the Command to promptly respond to distress call anywhere in the state appealing to the people to avail themselves of the newly introduced community policing system introduced by the Command under the leadership of the Commissioner, Habu Sani Ahmadu.
