The Bauchi State Government, through the office of the Head of Civil Service (HoS), has initiated a 3-day retreat for political office holders aimed at enhancing their performance in running the affairs of the government to achieve the ‘Bauchi Project’ vision of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration.
The retreat, organised in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, aims to assess the successes and challenges encountered during the first term of the Governor’s administration, offering solutions to propel progress into the second term.
Inaugurating the event at the Sa’ad Abubakar Hajj Camp, Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed emphasised the goal of setting a standard for service delivery, where heads of ministries, departments, and agencies are expected to be guided by key performance evaluations in line with global best practises.
Governor Bala Mohammed mentioned that his reelection for a second term propelled the decision to update the administration’s blueprint, aiming to consolidate the provision of infrastructure and human capital development across the state.
The Governor assured that his administration will build upon the accomplishments of the last four years for sustainable growth and development. He stressed that this effort would align the participants with the administration’s vision and mission.
The objective of the retreat is to inform relevant stakeholders about the administration’s road map and how to achieve success, guided by the report of the 2023 Technical Committee on the best ways to take ownership of the road map.
He added that he envisions Bauchi State as a region with numerous opportunities and potentials that, if properly harnessed, can help address challenges such as insecurity and job creation.
Governor Bala Mohammed emphasised his administration’s recognition of the indispensable role of civil servants in governance.
He expressed his commitment to equipping them with the necessary support, skills, and knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape and refine the existing system to enhance the standard of living for Almajiri, women, children, and others facing harsh realities.
While highlighting the achievements of his administration in the last four years, the Governor reassured the people of Bauchi State that his administration would continue to work for the welfare of the people, urging continuous prayers and support.
Professor Usman Bugaje, Chairman of the occasion, stressed the significance of teamwork, technological-driven initiatives, and commitment to duty as major requirements for a successful administration.
Bugaje also encouraged the participants to make the best use of this opportunity to assist the Governor in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
The participants included commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, local government caretaker committee chairmen, civil society organisations, heads of security agencies, and traditional and religious leaders.
