Bauchi gov seeks support of power sector to revive industries 

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has sought for the support of stakeholders in the power sector for the revival of all moribund industries in the state.

The Governor said this when he granted audience to the Management of the technologists’ investors on Kujuru Power Project at the Government House Bauchi on Wednesday reaffirming the readiness of his administration to provide an enabling environment for effective implementation of investors’ projects in the state.

He observed that the revival of the dead industries would contribute to the reduction of unemployment among unemployed youth and women in the state as they would be engaged in various ventures and skills.

Bala Mohammed who assured the investors of his support, however, warned Ministries against frustrating investors working in their organisations.

Speaking earlier, the Team Leader, Major General L O Jokotola (rtrd), said that the visit was to collaborate with the state government in advancing improved power sector for job creation.

In the same vein, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that he is ready to work with consultants to enable him access grants from international agencies for the development of the state.

The Governor made the remarks in an interactive session with consultants of Kuwait Fund, a project under agenda 21 Sustainable Development Window held at the Government House, Bauchi.

Bala Mohammed expressed confidence that, when implemented in the state, the project would address the environmental and unemployment challenges facing the state and pledged to comply with their requirements for the implementation of the project, describing the consultants as partners in progress.

The Governor who solicited for their support towards finding a lasting solution to the current environmental challenges facing the state said that their visit has come at a time when his administration has extended its partnership with relevant stakeholders.

Bala Mohammed also said that his resolve to declare ‘State of Emergency’ on education, health and agriculture was part of efforts to develop the sectors in order to ensure economic advancement for sustainable development.

The Governor informed the delegation that, the road projects currently embarked upon by the present administration in the state is to assist the benefiting communities especially farmers to transport their products without any hitches.

On his part, the Team Leader, Ahmed Al’amin explained that the project, ‘Agenda 21 Sustainable Development Window’ was launched by the United Nations to support underdeveloped countries in the areas of economic development, environmental and infrastructure.

He said that  Bauchi state has been selected to benefit from the project where 200,000 youths would be engaged under ‘Green Jobs Development Project’ to tackle environmental challenges and ensure infrastructural development in the state.

The team leader said that already Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno and Kaduna states have been supported with funds under the ‘Kuwait Fund’ for environmental project and infrastructure development.
