Bauchi: Coalition of unions expresses confidence ahead of Supreme Court judgement

Leaders of Coalition of Unions in Bauchi state

Ahead of the Supreme Court judgement in the Gubernatorial seat of Bauchi State between the immediate past Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the sitting Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a coalition of unions in the state has expressed confidence in the Panel of Justices of the court to be fair and just in their judgment.

The Coalition, led by Abdulkadir Alinbaba, while addressing Journalists at the NUJ Press Center on Saturday, declared that Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir was duly elected by the majority of the people of the state who he said were dissatisfied with the performance of the past APC led administration.

Abubakar Alinbaba added that both the Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court, in Jos, dismissed the petition brought before them by the defeated APC candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for lack merit and upheld the election because it was a reflection of the voice of the people of Bauchi State.

He, therefore, said that with the overwhelming support demonstrated during the last general election, there was no way that the APC would have won the Gubernatorial Election.

The Chairman of artisans, Alkadsim Tijjani, said the Supreme Court should uphold the election of Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir as the duly elected Governor of Bauchi State because according to him, people of Bauchi State massively voted for PDP and Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir due to the non-performance of the then APC led administration.

He opined that the Justices of the Supreme Court are people of integrity who will not do anything to rubbish their hard-earned integrity built over the years.

He expressed confidence that the judgment will be in the favour of Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir and the PDP.

The Chairman of NURTW, in his own address, urged people of the state to pray to God for divine intervention in the matter because according to him there is nothing God cannot do in the present circumstances.

It will be recalled that the Supreme Court, last Monday, adjourned the judgement to Monday next week a development that has created tension among people of the state who have remained apprehensive of the outcome of the case.
