Armed bandits who kidnapped Zamfara head of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Bashir Aliyu Abara Gummi have demanded another N44m ransom after paying N16m earlier.
Bashir Abara Gummi, a member and the Head of Zamfara State office of RMAFC, was kidnapped along Gusau to Funtua road while travelling to Abuja to represent the state for an official engagement.
It was gathered that other members of his entourage going to attend the Abuja assignment who were kidnapped had managed to escape the bandits’ attack.
Nigeria Tribune further gathered from the family of the kidnapped RMAFC member that N16m was earlier paid as ransom with assurance to release the victim, but up til today he is still at the bandits’ den.
“Our family and the RMAFC have gathered ₦16,000,000 as ransom, which the kidnappers earlier accepted but refused to release him up to now. They are now demanding a new ransom of ₦44,000,000 along with 10 motorcycles.
“We implore federal and the state governments to take immediate action to save him, as the kidnappers have set a deadline of February 2025 to pay the ransom,” a family source revealed.
It be recalled that armed bandits kidnapped Bashir Aliyu Abara Gummi immediately after Tsafe town on their way to Abuja in early November 2024 in the state.
