The immediate past Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, was arraigned today by the Federal Government for an alleged procurement fraud before Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting at Maitama, Abuja.
Emefiele faced a six-count charge related to fraud filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation on behalf of the Federal Government.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The embattled former CBN boss, granted bail by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the High Court of FCT last week, was remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his bail application.
The judge adjourned the bail application hearing until Wednesday, November 22, for ruling on the defendant’s bail application.
He also adjourned the hearing in the substantive case to November 28.
