A group, under the aegis of the African Socio-Cultural Harmony and Enlightenment Foundation (ASHE), has congratulated Prince Abimbola Owoade on his emergence as the Alafin of Oyo-designate, just as it commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for his “brave decisive action” by allowing traditional means of divination, Ifa, in selecting the monarch “to cleanse the selection process that has been corrupted by coloniality over time.”
The group said this in a signed statement by Prince Justice Faloye, president of the Foundation think-tank, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, describing Owoade’s emergence as Alaafin-designate as a momentous turning point in the history of Yoruba and the Ifa civilisation.Â
The group, while noting that it was good that Governor Makinde rejuvenated the traditional means of determining the right choice in Yoruba land which is Ifa, said the move by the Oyo State helmsman was an indication that Owoade’s reign “will be profound being the beginning of a new 165 year Olokun cycle of leadership consciousness and most important, the first Alaafin in the new 2000yr Age of Shango.”
ASHE argued that this deviation of using solely Ifa to cause the emergence of the Alaafin-designate was not only pivotal to starting a new 165 year Olokun cycle that is decolonial, but also the start of the new 2000 year Age of Shango of universal Justice, digital economy and Black Renaissance.Â
According to it, it is equally a switch of humanity from the several millennia era of scientific materialism that started in the 4000BC Age of Osun/Taurus of monumental architecture, to this new Age of scientific spiritualism, not witnessed since the beginning of Ifa in the 6000BC Age of Esu/Gemini.Â
This was just as the group observed that it was a great pleasure to witness Vice- Chancellor, University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Prof. Wande Abimbola, “one of the world’s foremost Ifa practitioners, crown his life long achievements in Ifa with this midwifery of the selection of Alaafin based on solely on pure Ifa,” describing such as a clear sign of the dawn of scientific spiritualism needed for the renaissance of the indigenous African civilisation.
The group, while congratulating Governor Makinde for taking a bold step in ensuring the emergence of the Alaafin-designate, urged him to go a step further “to avoid doubt by prosecuting to the full extent of the law all those found guilty, in order to send a warning to those corrupting our traditional institutions.”
“We congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde for the brave decisive action to cleanse the selection process that has been corrupted by coloniality over time – a pivotal action required at the cusp of the Age of Shango (Justice) that changes the mantra from Might is Right to Right is Might.Â
“We implore the governor to complete the process to avoid doubt by prosecuting to the full extent of the law all those found guilty, in order to send a warning to those corrupting our traditional institutions,” the group said.
Speaking further, ASHE charged Prince Owoade to appreciate the cosmic reason for his selection to lead Oyo, Yoruba and the indigenous African civilization based on the very Ifa that brought him to office, saying that the Alaafin-designate had it as his duty to strengthen the civilizational structure with Osun brotherly love and common origins to uplift Oyo, Yoruba and the Black Race.
“There can be no Yoruba Renaissance without an Indigenous African civilization renaissance, because in practice the world is divided along civilizations, and no single ethnicity, not to talk of sub-ethnic group, can compete globally without a strong civilizational backing.
“Alaafin Owoade must be wary of Eurocentric neo-colonial scholars that denigrate Ifa as mere geomancy inherited from Arabs, and those that restrict Ifa to the colonial inspired tribal jackets, in order to divide and rule the indigenous African civilization,” the group said.
