According to the wife of the deceased Mrs Chinasa Ajanwu who is nursing a one-month-old baby with eight other children, it was where they were taking refuge at the Holding Center located at Ogwuaniocha Community Primary School that they receive the message that her husband had drowned while attempting to transport his harvested cassava.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the deceased left behind a young wife, Chinasa who hails from Ossomala and nine children, the oldest of the children is thirteen years old.
The Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Honourable Arinzechukwu Awogu accompanied by Chief Osy Odogwu, SA to the Governor paid a condolence visit to the family, assuring them of government’s support and promised to inform the Governor about the incident.
