376,631 applied for ICPC’s 220 jobs

Independent Corrupt Practices and Other related offences (ICPC), on Tuesday, disclosed that a total of 376,631 candidates applied for its 220 available job openings by the closing date of January 30, 2020.

In an update on the recruitment process posted on its twitter page, ICPC noted that the only 220 positions became available due to budgetary allocation constraints.

It noted further that only applicants with specialised skills and required disciplines as listed here will be considered.

Those disciplines include Accountancy, Law, Economics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Forensic, and Computer Science.

Others are Statistics/Mathematics, Mass Communications, Sociology, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Engineering, Procurement specialists and Forensic Experts.

ICPC explained in the series of tweets that shortlisted applicants will be subjected to an online assessment test, a computer-based aptitude test, and a written assessment test which will qualify them for an oral interview and other stages of assessment.

Although the commission asked for applications from interested candidates to the assistant directorship cadre, it has suspended employing into the category because allocation was not approved for it in the 2020 budget.

“That no applications for the positions of Assistant Directors will be considered as the 2020 budgetary allocation approved for the Commission (after the recruitment advertisement had been placed) does not provide for them.”

An online assessment test will cover the remaining advertised six job levels and will be administered over a specific period to assess candidates’ IQ and logical reasoning.

Applicants who successfully scale through to the interview will be further subjected to background checks and certificate verification.

“They will also undergo a polygraph test in addition to a paramilitary training that will last for at least 6 months to ascertain their physical fitness,” the commission disclosed.
