Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential convention slated for May 30-31, a Chieftain of the party and presidential hopeful, Tein Teinbo Seliyefubara Jack-Rich, has denied insinuation that he is in the race to scuttle the presidential ambition of former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Jack Rich made the denial on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
Checks revealed that both Jack Rich and Amaechi are the two aspirants from the South-South geo-political zone who have signified interest in the APC presidential ticket. Incidentally, both are from Rivers State.
Jack Rich who spoke through the media and zonal coordinator of his campaign organization, His Highness, Anabs Sara- Igbe said the capacity of Jack Rich for the exalted office should not be underestimated.
He alleged that the Minister of Transportation has done nothing to transform the South-South to ride to justify the support of his geopolitical zone for the 2023 presidency.
He said: “Jack Rich is an independent-minded person and he is not being sponsored to scuttle Rotimi Amaechi’s aspiration.
“Both of them have a right. We have nothing against Rotimi and Jack Rich; relate well with everybody. He has been supportive of the Minister but let us ask ourselves. Is Amaechi the best for South-South? The answer is no! He is building a railway to the North but he has neglected his home state.
“In Rivers where he comes from, look at Eastern port of Calabar, Warri, Onne haven’t been upgraded. At least, he can meet the stakeholders, and galvanise their commitment to making these ports alive.
“He is a Niger Delta man. So, the South-South will soon present Jack Rich to Nigerians.
“It is not about scuttling someone’s ambition. What has he done as a Minister, even when he served as Governor? The question to ask is, did he incur more debts or made money for the nation? The political class and the public are waiting to assess everybody. Jack Rich isn’t coming to scuttle anybody.
Sara -Igbe f who argued that the South-South deserves the ticket of the ruling party more than any other geopolitical zone, also tasked Nigerians to look out for candidates who have done well in their private businesses for the office of President.
“Our economy is nose-diving and we need a competent person well versed in the economy
“Most of the people know how to spend money, not how to produce wealth. Ask them what they have done with their life, outside the government. Try and compare them with a man who hasn’t been in government but has contributed immensely as an employer of labour.
“We need somebody who will provide security through social services. It is because people aren’t busy and that’s why we have all these security challenges. He has done social empowerment and created wealth by employing workers. That’s what Jack Rich stands for.”
The campaign organization also announced the former governor of Bauchi State and former Aviation Minister as Director-General and National Coordinator of Jack Rich Campaign Organization.
