Former Head of State, Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar has called on the politician to ensure that next year’s Poll is hitch free.
According to him, this is only possible if politicians guard utterances and actions that will heat up the polity.
He said this is a task that must be done in order to make the 2019 poll hitch free of violence.
He made this is statement known during a Presentation and Launch of a Book titled, “Yakowa”: A dream deferred’ held at Arewa House, Kaduna on Thursday.
Gen Abdulsalam, disclosed that the former Governor of Kaduna state Late Ibrahim Yakowa who died in a plane crash was a detribalised leader.
According to the former Head of state, Yakowa was a leader who embraced all and sundry irrespective of one’s tribal, religious, or ethnic inclinations.
He said that the Late Governor inherited a cosmopolitan city which had various challenges and within the little time he held sway, he did his best for his people.
On the author of the book, former spokesman to late Governor Yakowa, Mr Reuben Buhari, Gen Abdulsalam said the author has tried to immortalize the actions of his boss in written form so that it could be a reference material to present and future leaders.
In his remark, the author of the book, Mr Reuben Buhari, said that the book was aimed at changing the misconception and perceptions of the Former Governor in the eyes of the public.
He added that the former Governor was a peace-loving man who embraced all the people and he was a workaholic.
Speaking at the event, wife of the former Governor, Amina Yakowa said that the book will help many Nigerians especially the youth find a meaning in their lives.
