Ahead of Saturday governorship and house of assembly elections, the Lagos State government has directed all public and private schools in the state to close their doors from Thursday after school hours and reopen them on Monday, March 11, to continue with their activities.
The Deputy Director, Public Affairs, state’s Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesegun Ogundeji, made this known on Monday in a statement made available to newsmen, saying the essence of one-day holiday, tagged: “second mid-term break” was to enable students to unite with their families during the forthcoming elections.

He said the state government came up with this notice to correct the impression in some quarters that schools would not open at all on Thursday.
According to him, it is only Friday there wouldn’t be school and all parents, teachers and the public are advised to take note of the development.
