A 26- year old woman, Mrs Kebodi Anna, on Friday appeared before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an ATM card to withdraw N1,220,000.
Anna, who is facing a one-count charge of stealing, allegedly stole a Union Bank’s ATM card, a property of one Mrs Felicia Odogwu.
The Police Prosecutor, Mrs Blessing Okafor, told the court that the accused committed the offense on the Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 at the Zenith Bank along Nnebisi road Asaba.
Okafor said that the accused on the said dates, also withdrew the sum of N5,000 from the Union Bank account of Mrs Felicia Odogwu through the Zenith Bank ATM.
She said that the offense was punishable under Sections 516, 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap C21, Vol 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty and the court granted her bail in the sum of N400, 000 and a surety in like sum.
The magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, who gave the ruling, said that the surety must be on a salary grade level 15, with two years of tax clearance.
In addition, she said that the surety must own a landed property in the court’s jurisdiction and provide two passport photographs.
She adjourned the case to Oct. 25 for definite hearing.
