The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ correspondent’s Chapel Taraba State Council, on Thursday, commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his transformational policies to build a new Taraba and setting the pace of his administration on strategic projects and policies that demonstrate good governance within the first 100 days in office.
Mr. Gabriel Yough, Chairman of the correspondent’s Chapel, while speaking during the governor’s 100 days of media interaction, Feedback, and Assessments, saluted the governor for adequately attending to key projects directly impacting the citizens within his first 100 days as governor of Taraba.
Yough commended the governor for initiating free and compulsory Basic education and slashing the torsion fees of tertiary institutions by 50 percent. The chairman expressed that the governor’s proactive approach to give Jalingo, the state capital, a face-lift by engaging young men and women as street sweepers was laudable.
He also saluted the governor’s courage in changing the trend of old leaders by appointing youth into his cabinet, urged Tarabans to keep the faith, and supported the governor’s administration to succeed in her desired mandate.
In his assessment, Mr Justin Tyopuusu of Punch newspaper commended Governor Kefas for being a model among governors. The punch correspondent, however, drowned the governor’s attention to the vacuum between his administration and the media and the need to work closely with the Journalists to succeed.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wole Ayodele of ThisDay newspaper and Sadiq Adamu of News Agency of Nigeria NAN commended Governor Kefas’s steps to ensure a new Taraba of the citizens’ dreams.
The duo called on Governor Kefas to also direct his attention to the deplorable condition of the Jalingo township roads, particularly in the areas like Angwan Kasa, Mayo-Dassa, Abuja phase (I), and (ii), Lasandi, Nasarawu, and others.
In his response, Governor Kefas assured that his government would redouble her efforts toward building a new Taraba of the citizens’ desires.
The governor thanked Journalists for their observations and comments so far in reshaping his administration and pledged to act accordingly since all observations and comments were pointed toward the transformation of Taraba state.
“I want to assure you, Journalists, that I mean every word I say, and I want you to hold me by my word if my administration fails with the four years duration of the government.
“I will act adequately to your observations and comments since all are strategically for ensuring a greater Taraba,” He responded.
