According to the organisers of the competition, the finals, which started on Thursday, will produce the state’s representatives for the national Qur’an recitation contest coming up in Katsina State between 2 February and 11 February, 2018.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the committee, Alhaji Nuhu Abbas Isa, said the reciters had gone through the local government and senatorial levels of the competition to qualify for the finals where the state’s representatives for the national contest would emerge.
Those who excel in the competition, according to the statement, will be presented with prizes at the closing ceremony tomorrow.
The statement said the proprietor of Baraje Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, would be the chairman of the occasion, while a former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Nimatallahi Akanbi, would be the chairperson. A Sharia Court Khadi, Justice AbdulLateef Kamaldeen, is the guest lecturer.
It added that the President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, would be the special guest of honour while the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, would be the guest of honour and the royal father of the day respectively.
The chief host is the chairman, Kwara State Arabic Board, Dr Abdulkadir Juma’ Al-Salman. The co-host is the Danmadami of Ilorin and chairman, state Qur’an Committee, Alhaji Sheu Abdulgafar.
