In a strong demonstration of its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), Zenith General Insurance Limited has extended support to two orphanages in Lagos, Heritage Homes Orphanage and Children Anchor Orphanage Home, reaffirming its values of empathy, compassion, and community impact.
Senior executives of the insurance firm led the outreach visits, donating essential supplies and spending time with the children.
The company said the gesture aligns with its long-standing philosophy of giving back to society, particularly to the most vulnerable groups.
Mrs. Edith Agu, Senior Manager in charge of Head Office Marketing and South-South branches, said the initiative was designed to assure the children of their worth and show that Zenith Insurance genuinely cares about their well-being.
“We want to show them that Zenith Insurance cares about them and that their well-being is important to us,” Agu said.
At Heritage Homes Orphanage, the social worker in charge, Mrs. Mosopefoluwa, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the company’s donations.
She noted that the home, founded 19 years ago by Pastor Ituah, was established to provide a safe haven for abandoned and vulnerable children while facilitating adoption and care placements.
“We depend solely on donors and well-wishers who often become long-term sponsors. We are very happy because we see a prospect of continuity in this relationship,” she said.
Children Anchor Orphanage Home, founded in 2020, also benefited from the outreach.
Its supervisor, Mr. Olajide Ola Bankole, highlighted the home’s mission to give orphans, abused, and abandoned children a chance at a better future.
He explained that running an orphanage housing over 35 children comes with significant challenges, especially amid rising costs and limited resources.
“We are really grateful. We are not the only orphanage, but you chose Children Anchor Orphanage Home,” he said, thanking Zenith General Insurance for its kindness.
During the visits, members of the Zenith team shared words of encouragement with the children, and Mrs. Abimbola Sarumi, Deputy Head of IT, said the company’s goal was “to put an extra smile on the faces of our children — our tomorrow.”
Similarly, Mr. Muyiwa Aderibigbe, Head of Internal Control and Audit, explained that the outreach reflected the company’s core value of empathy and its commitment to restoring hope.
“This activity speaks to one of our core values. We want you to stay alive because, as our business is known for restoring hope, joy is coming,” he told the children and staff.
The Zenith team also used the opportunity to call on other organizations to prioritise social investment, especially in the face of Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
“Organisations should plan and make budgetary allocations for the improvement of their society through various corporate social vehicles,” Agu advised.
Aderibigbe added that despite the tough business environment, companies have a moral duty to make a positive difference.
“These are trying times for many businesses, but we urge other organizations to join this train of making impact in society and touching lives beyond just profit,” he said.
As the visits concluded, the atmosphere at both homes was filled with gratitude and renewed optimism.
The orphanages expressed hope that Zenith General Insurance’s visit would mark the beginning of a lasting partnership focused on uplifting vulnerable children and empowering communities.
Zenith General Insurance reaffirmed that its CSR initiatives would remain integral to its business philosophy, as the company continues to balance profitability with purpose.
“For us, it’s about impact that lasts. When we invest in people, we invest in the future,” one team member noted.
