Zelenskyy: Norway’s largest fuel company stops refueling US warships

Haltbakk Bunkers, a privately owned Norwegian oil and shipping company, has announced that it will no longer supply fuel to U.S. warships in response to the ongoing political dispute between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The statement was made by the company in a now deleted Facebook post.

Haltbakk Bunkers CEO Gunnar Gran confirmed to Norwegian newspaper VG that the company made a decision not to supply the U.S. military, but said the move would have a “symbolic” impact as it didn’t have a fixed contract.

“We have today been witnesses to the biggest shitshow ever presented ‘live on TV’ by the current American president and his vice president. Huge credit to the president of Ukraine for restraining himself and for keeping calm even though the USA put on a backstabbing TV show. It made us sick,” the company’s statement read.

“Short and sweet. As a result, we have decided to immediately STOP as a fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports. ‘No Fuel to Americans!’ We encourage all Norwegians and Europeans to follow our example.”

Haltbakk Bunkers, which supplies a range of fuel products, lubricants, and environmental solutions along the Norwegian coast, has historically provided refueling services to international vessels, including U.S. military ships. The company’s decision marks a rare move by a private enterprise to take a political stand against the policies of a major global power.

This move could have broader implications for NATO cooperation in the region, as Norway remains a key strategic location for U.S. and allied military operations in the North Atlantic.

The U.S. has not yet issued an official response to Haltbakk Bunkers’ announcement.
