BANDITS on Wednesday evening invaded Magarya town in Zamfara State, where they kidnapped the father of the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly and five other persons.
The bandits also abducted the Speaker’s stepmother.
A source informed Nigerian Tribune that before the bandits arrived in Magarya town, they had earlier attacked Kaiwa Lamba, Jinkirawa and Sabon Fegi villages on the Kaura Namoda- Shinkafi road.
“They invaded Magarya town at about 4:00 p.m. when people were observing Asr prayers; they kidnapped the father of the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Nasiru Magarya; his stepmother and four others,” the source said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Shehu Muhammd, confirmed the incident.
The police spokesperson, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Rabiu, had deployed police tactical squad in the area with a view to rescuing the abducted victims.
