The Zamfara State government delegation, led by the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, visited the victims of the recent Talata Mafara explosion at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
The delegation delivered drugs and other essential medical supplies to the injured victims and assured them that the Zamfara State government would cover all medical expenses.
The Information Officer of the Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, reported on Sunday that the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, stated that the explosion, believed to have been caused by gunpowder, occurred at the Talata Mafara main market in the state.
“The Zamfara State Government will bear the cost of everything for the explosion victims, including drugs, food for patients and caregivers, and transportation after they are discharged,” Dr. Maradun said.

According to her, the state government has also allocated weekly food allowances for both patients and their caregivers.
“The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto does not receive payments from individuals to settle patients’ bills. They should submit the expenses incurred since the victims were brought from the state, and the Zamfara State government will cover the costs,” the Commissioner assured.
The Chief Medical Director of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Professor Anas Ahmad Sabir, expressed his condolences and thanked the Zamfara government for its support.
He confirmed that no victim had been asked to pay for treatment since their arrival.
“It is our tradition to treat patients brought to us in such calamities, and we will continue their treatment until the end,” Professor Sabir said.
